Spring 2025 Schedule Updated March 15, 2025

PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS:

Pre-Canskate

The Pre-CanSkate program is designed for any skater (up to age 8) who has not mastered the ability to shuffle forward, stand up and balance on their own. This program is a non-parented class. Therefore, skaters should be able to participate without a parent on the ice. The goal of the Pre-CanSkate program is to introduce skaters to their equipment and ease those who are uneasy about skating into becoming comfortable on the ice. The goal is to work with the skater as they work towards their Pre-CanSkate ribbon. These sessions are taught in a group lesson format both on and off the ice by NCCP Nationally Certified Professional Coaches. Participants must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet and skates. We recommend wearing water resistant type pants and mittens or gloves.

Canskate Stage 1-2

Skaters must have been in a TBSA program previously and achieved the Pre-CanSkate level OR have mastered the ability to move forward, stand up and balance on their own without any assistance. Participants will be working on Stage 1-2 Badges. Stage 3 skills will also be taught. These sessions are taught in a group lesson format both on and off the ice by NCCP Nationally Certified Coaches. Participants must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet and skates. We recommend wearing water resistant type pants and mittens or gloves.

Advanced CanSkate

Skaters must have been in a TBSA (or other Skate Canada program) previously and achieved the complete Stage 2 Badge level. Skaters will be working on the Stage 3-6 Badge levels in the Advanced CanSkate program. These sessions are taught in group lesson format by NCCP Nationally Certified Coaches. Participants must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet and skates (lace up hockey or figure skates only; no plastic molded skates). We recommend wearing water resitant type pants, mittens or gloves.

Rising Stars

The Rising STAR program is a learn to figure skate program where participants must wear figure skates. It is designed for skaters who have previously skated with the Academy and who are working on their Stage 3 badge or higher of the CanSkate program. Skaters will take part in an accelerated CanSkate program to complete Stage 3-6. This program is taught in group lesson format both on and off the ice by NCCP Regional Level Coaches specializing in the STARSkate program. Participants must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet until they have achieved the Stage 5 Badge level.
